高爾夫球，又稱 高球，哥爾夫球，俗稱小白球，是一種室外體育運動。個人或團體球員以不同的高爾夫球桿將一顆小球打進果嶺的洞內。高爾夫球像是起源自蘇格蘭。大部份的比賽有18洞。桿數越少的越優勝。
目前世界上較為知名的個人比賽有：英國公開賽、英國業餘高爾夫球錦標賽、美國公開賽、美國業餘高爾夫球錦標賽、美國大師賽和美國職業高爾夫球協會錦標賽。最有名的團體比賽有世界盃賽、萊德杯歐美對抗賽和沃克杯美英愛爾蘭系列賽。
英國公開賽、美國公開賽、美國大師賽和美國職業高爾夫球協會錦標賽是高爾夫球界的四大大滿貫賽事。
高爾夫球普遍被視為蘇格蘭人的發明，今日的高爾夫球18洞制度亦由蘇格蘭制定，當地亦有全球最歷史悠久的高球會，被視作蘇格蘭國粹，但近年有中國學者提出中國宋朝時已有近似高爾夫球的玩意，當時稱作「捶丸」，玩法與高爾夫球近似，並推斷捶丸經海上絲路流傳出外，登陸蘇格蘭，再發展成18洞的運動；法國亦有學者提出比蘇格蘭人更早發明的高爾夫球活動。這一歷史詮譯在蘇格蘭引起頗大爭議。

高爾夫各球洞因地形變化而出現不等的距離，通常將此不等的距離分成：長，中，短三種。十八個球洞中，長，短距離的球洞各有四個，中等距離的球洞有十個，採混合式排列,一個球場大部分平均會分佈水池(下水罰桿一桿),界外球OB(out of band 罰桿兩桿)OB線旁會豎立白色木樁,球洞部份可分為長草區 球道區 沙坑等,各個球場有自訂另行規則。
球場的球洞分部大部分為有:四個3桿洞,十個四桿洞,四個五桿洞 球桿的標準 為不超過14枝球桿為上限 一般球友多會使用 一枝開球木桿,兩支球道木桿,九支鐵桿及一枝推桿以及一枝特殊用途的球桿
不同距離的標準桿數：431米以上為5桿，430.9米至229.1米為4桿，229米以下為3桿，一回合的比賽大都以72桿為準，也有一回合設定為70桿的，如美國公開賽大都設定70桿，以增加比賽的困難度，通常一場比賽要比四個回合，女子組通常是三個回合。
[編輯] 果嶺（putting green ）
果嶺是green的音譯。 To putt means to play a stroke, usually, but not always on the green, where the ball does not leave the ground. Once on the green, the ball is putted (struck with a flat faced club which makes the ball roll along the ground) towards the hole until the ball comes to rest in the cup. The grass of the putting green (or more commonly the green) is cut very short so that a ball can roll easily over distances of several yards. The direction of growth of individual blades of grass often affects the roll of a golf ball and is called the grain. The slope of the green, called the break, also affects the roll of the ball. The cup is always found within the green (at least ten feet from the edge), and must have a diameter of 108 mm (4.25 in.) and a depth of at least 100 mm (3.94 in.). Its position on the green is not static and may be changed from day to day. The cup usually has a flag on a pole positioned in it so that it may be seen from some distance, but not necessarily from the tee. This flag and pole combination is often called the pin.
果嶺的質量並不是相同的。一般來說，最好的果嶺都是得到很好的養護，使得球可以很平滑的貼著切割過的草坪上滾動。高爾夫愛好者一般把好的果嶺描述為 faster（快的），輕輕的一擊球就可以在上面滾動很遠。相對的，如果球在上面滾動相當的距離需要很大的力氣去擊球，這樣的果嶺稱為slow（慢的） (視果嶺的草種以及長短,生長方向而決定果嶺的快慢)由於果嶺的地形高低起伏會讓打者感覺其困難度 。
